LibraryThing Review: Freakonomics

I'd been put off reading this book by all the hype it received when it was first published. Now that I've finally read it, all I can think of to say is "so what?". None of the ideas are particularly surprising or revolutionary, but the writers seem to think that they are. The writers also seem to spend half of the book telling us how brilliant one of them is.
The only thing I found interesting (and not in a good way) was the lack of feeling the authors seemed to feel when bragging about how they got a group of teachers sacked for cheating on test scores. No consideration was given to why the teachers felt it necessary to cheat, and the effect that test driven teaching has on real learning.
On the whole, worth reading to see what the fuss was about, but don't expect to learn anything new.
